High performance and comfort in one saddle
The SR Pro Carbon Men brings ergonomics to a lightweight, high-performance saddle. It weighs only 175 grams with carbon rails and carbon composite seat shell (size S/M). With an ergonomically designed shape and relief channel as well as OrthoCell inlays to distribute the sitting load, this saddle is light, supportive and pressure-relieving.
Features:
Men’s health
The Ergon development team carried out intensive research on the topic of men’s health. They found that the main cause of complaints when cycling is the saddle. Often men experience too much pressure on their perineal area leading to pain, discomfort, numbness and potentially more severe health problems. The SR Pro Men relieves this pressure with a specific relief channel as well as better surface area distribution under the bony structures. Through MRT, CT analysis, many prototypes and test riders, Ergon has ergonomically adjusted the saddle to the specific anatomy and needs of men.
More freedom of movement
The male pelvis tends to be less flexible than the female pelvis. This means men sit more upright on the saddle and put more of their weight distribution on their sit bones, meaning the transition area between the rear of the saddle and the saddle nose can be kept narrow (Y-shape). This gives the legs more space to pedal.
Male and female pelvic differences
In contrast to the female anatomy, the male sit bones are more narrow and where the two sides of the pelvis come together in the front is much higher. This results in more pressure being distributed on the male’s sit bones versus a broader area of sit bones and pubic bones in women. Ergon has taken this significant difference between male and female anatomy into consideration during saddle development.
No pressure on sensitive areas
The correct distribution of pressure is important. To protect the sensitive perineal area, the pressure must be shifted to the sit bones and parts of the pubic arch – this is exactly how the relief surface of Ergon men’s saddles works. Due to the more upright sitting male pelvis, Ergon has kept the surface flat and even for best freedom of movement. It uses the highest quality foams for support.
The right size
The shape and size of the saddle must match the sit bone width of the rider to maximise comfort and enjoyment.
The pelvic bone has a unique V-shape and the saddle must offer the sit bones a large contact surface with the ability to meet the demand of different sitting positions. Various saddle widths are offered so that the usable seat surface corresponds to the rider' unique sit bone distance. The more forward and aggressive the rider sits, the further forward the sit bones contact the saddle.
DEEP RELIEF CHANNEL
Eliminating unwanted pressures
The progressive relief channel, which deepens towards the rear, leads to an opening through the saddle shell. This construction combines the advantages of a cut-out saddle without the potential disadvantages. The design gives the saddle shell more forgiveness and relieves perineal pressures. Too much pressure in this area often leads to discomfort and numbness in the genital area.
ORTHOCELL-PADS
Even better than gel
The new OrthoCell material helps you to achieve your best performance without any complaints. These inlays, which are more durable and lighter than gel, ensure the best pressure distribution and provide the highest rebound force. This means they follow the movements of the pelvis with every turn of the crank, but quickly return to their starting position.
ORTHOPAEDIC FOAM
Comfortable and durable
The orthopaedic foam is ergonomic for road cycling, but still extremely durable. With the addition of OrthoCell inlays, the pressure of the bony structures is distributed better by increasing the rebound force and dissipating vibrations.
THE RAMP
More support – more power
The ramp at the rear of the SR Pro Carbon Men provides effective support for your buttocks, especially when you go to accelerate in the drops. The ramp keeps you supported so that more power goes into the pedals and less energy is wasted supporting yourself in a power-producing position.
ANTI-FRICTION SIDE FLANKS
Less friction, more movement
For added comfort, Ergon has added anti-friction side flanks to the SR Pro Men. This reduces the friction of your thighs on the saddle while pedalling, resulting in less rubbing and more freedom of movement.
INTEGRATED QUICK-CLICK MOUNT
Removable Topeak QuickClick saddle bag mount
A Topeak QuickClick mount is integrated into all models of the SR Men Series. This removable QuickClick mount allows for Topeak saddlebags to be easily attached in a streamline fashion.
