The concept of a SHADOW derailleur has evolved. It's slimmer, stronger, smarter, has a SHADOW-style chain stabilizer, and has a motor unit with Automatic Impact Recovery that returns to its original position after impact.

The 11-speed version of the DEORE long-cage mechanical drivetrain features the same durability-enhancing features as the 12-speed model, including the SHADOW ES wedge design with a low-profile, slim stabilizer bar and wide hinge, and a steel derailleur cage. Paired with the LINKGLIDE 11-50T cassette, it creates a reliable and durable setup primarily designed for E-MTB use.
