Kona 6061 aluminium delivers reliable performance that lasts for thousands of rides
27.5” wheels are nimble and manoeuvrable, yet still track well and roll nicely over obstacles
The powerful E8000 motor can handle the steepest trails and is intuitive enough to give you the right amount of support every pedal stroke
Welcome to electric bike land
Call it a pedal-assist bike, or an e-bike, or maybe even a BUV (Bike Utility Vehicle). The Remote has been a successful foray by Kona into electric bike land.
Built off of Kona's Honzo platform, the Remote is a hardtail that makes accessing your favourite zones easier than ever. 120mm of front suspension with a Rockshox Recon RL fork, beefy 27.5 x 3.0 tyres and Shimano's E8000 motor make getting remote easier than ever.
Kona 6061 aluminium
Kona 6061 aluminium alloy is tough and durable, delivering fantastic, reliable performance that lasts for thousands of rides. Much of Kona's 6061 tubing is butted and/or formed, meaning the tubing’s wall thickness can be increased or decreased, as well as shaped, so that the company can fine-tune a particular frame’s strength and ride characteristics depending on its intended application.
Bearing cups are actually pressed into the frame and are easily removable. An internal headset also reduces stack height, so the height of the stem and bars are more adjustable, giving the rider the best fit possible.
Tapered head tube
More girth at the bottom of the head tube better distributes shock force, prolonging the bearing life of the headset and eliminating brake shudder, while providing confident steering performance. The inherent strength of its triangular design also means a stronger steering position and improved balance, giving the rider more control in rough terrain. A zero-stack, tapered head tube also puts strength where the load is going—into the lower headset cup, maximising bearing durability where it’s needed.
The 12x148 rear axle povides two major advantages to the Kona rider: The 12mm diameter provides the rear hub and frame with a stiff interface, while the hub's 148mm outer diameter allows the wheel to be quickly and properly positioned in the frame before the rear axle is inserted. The 12x148 Boost spacing provides more tyre clearance at the chainstay yoke, while the rear wheel is stiffer and more durable relative to a 12x142 thru-axle.
The benefits of the 27.5-inch wheel are simple: They roll over obstacles and track better than 26-inch wheels, but are more manoeuvrable and nimble than 29-inch ones.
