The Sutra is a drop-bar bike for mountain bikers, a capable tourer, or the Beast up to all burdens
The ultimate all-terrain drop-bar bike
Once upon a time a bunch of mountain bikers dreamed up something wild: A drop-bar bike that felt and rode like a mountain bike but had the speed of a road bike.
It was made of steel for added bump absorption and ride quality, had powerful SRAM Rival 1 hydraulic disc brakes, a 1x drivetrain and beefy yet fast-rolling 700x50c tyres. It also had a wider bar with a 16-degree flare that made for more aggressive descending.
The Sutra Ltd came to reality in all of its dreamy glory and is an absolute riot on-road or off.
Very few materials offer as much shock absorption, durability and supple-ride characteristics as steel. Kona has never strayed from cycling’s original material and has worked tirelessly to adapt, refine and innovate Kona cromoly framesets as rider demands continue to evolve.
Tubeless compatible rims
Tubeless rims allow for tyres with more puncture resistance and offer the ability to run lower tyre pressure, which provides better grip on the trail. They also lower rolling resistance and save weight over traditional tube and tyre systems.
The 12x142mm rear axle standard provides two major advantages to the Kona rider: The 12mm diameter provides the rear hub and frame with a stiff interface, while the 142 outer diameter of the hub allows the wheel to be quickly and properly positioned in the frame before the rear axle is inserted.
